Terri Schiavo died today so now we can debate her funeral arrangements ect...
Now that Terri schiavo is dead I think the parents have the right to bury her in the cementary of their choice.
Carol
exactly they must be desperate to proceed and finalise the details with the press
leave the poor woman alone?!?!
i hope the press is through with their mumbo-jumbo now that shes dead.
The press is never done till they consider it over and no longer worth their time. Not saying I agree, just the way it seems with the press. Far as she is concerned; excuse me for not typing her name...but, her husband is her husband, he did what he felt is best, why shouldn't he get to be involved in where she is barried? I know I'd want mine involved in that kind of decission if it were me.
Absolutely I agree that the less her parents have to do with Ms Schiavo's funeral and the settlement of her estate the better
I don’t really think that there are any right or wrong answers. Michael Schiavo did what he thought his wife wanted, but let’s face it, the way in which he did it was somewhat insensitive. Yes he was married to her, and he said she would not want to live in that kind of state. I think actually most of us have agreed that we wouldn’t want to live in that kind of state. But whether we agree with how she was living or not, this woman was breathing unassisted, her heart was beating without intervention, she wasn’t receiving any medical treatment apart from the fact she was being fed through a tube. So, the only way to end her life was to starve her to death. Now although I know that a lot on here agreed that she should have been allowed to die, I don’t think any of us supported the method in which she was allowed to die. And that’s partly why the parents faught so hard to keep her alive, in one statement her mother pleaded for them not to allow her daughter to die of thirst.
But for Miqchael Schiavo, allowing his wife to die was not enough. He went through the courts, won his fight to allow the removal of the feeding tubes, he then banned the family from being at her bedside when she died, and now he wants to take her body away, cremate it, and get on with his life, with his new partner and children. And what of the parents. Yes, maybe their motives were wrong, maybe they wanted her to stay alive for the wrong reasons, but no parent wants their child to die, and sometimes it is hard to see past the love and the need to keep your child with you and make the decision to allow that child’s life to end. I don’t believe they ever did any of this to deliberately cause any suffering, they did it, because they loved their daughter and wanted her to be with them. But while Michael Schiavo will be going back to his new life, the parents have lost a daughter, one who, for 15 years, they hoped would come back to them, and now Michael Schiavo has even denied them the chance to bury her. I actually think now that Michael Schiavo has done what he thought was right, now the body should be released to the parents, let them at least have a grave to put flowers on ...
totally agree SB! couldn't have said all that better myself! Cheers!
It doesn't matter that she was starved to death, o.k it prelonged the death a bit but she was going to die anyway so how she did was really not that important. Her parents complained that they didn't get to see her dying, but they wanted to keep her alive anyway so don't know what there problem is when they fought for the option of not seeing her die.
ww you might want to bear that comment in mind when it comes to your time to die. Because let's not forget, we are all going to die, so are you saying that it doesn't matter how it happens? You'd better hope for your sake then that you don't die a slow painful death, but I guess that doesn't really matter does it. As for the parents, yes of course they faught for their daughter's right to live, but they lost that fight, so it should only have been fair that they should have been allowed to be at their daughter's bed side when she did eventually die.
Well the winners usually decide what the losers can and cannot do and it was decided that the parents wouldn't be allowed by her bedside. Of course she shouldn't have been in hospital anyway. Yes we're all going to die, but when someone is so ill that they shall not recover enough to live without the support of medical technology, it shouldn't matter how they die. Personally I think they should have just put a loaded gun to her head and pulled the trigger so it would be over and done with quicker, but the fact that she starved to death doesn't matter really sincesince no matter how they would have killed her, she was going to die.
